| In November 2006, while living in Kyoto Japan as a language student at Ritsumeikan University, Bjorn was invited by Bill Valavanis to join his annual tour group at the Taikan-ten Exhibition. This professional bonsai show is held at Miyako Messe near Heian Jingu Shrine in southeast Kyoto and features works from the bonsai community all over Japan. Many of the winners from the previous year's Kokufu-ten were on display at this event. Although pictures of the actual show were prohibited, the vendors area was open to photography.
